In celebration of Oxnard's 25th Annual Juneteenth Celebration, the 3rd Annual “Mess-O-Greens” Festival will take place at on June 16th & 17th, 2017.
This special 2-day program has been designed to attract families from the Ventura County community, amateur chefs, foodies, food bloggers, health and wellness educators, exhibitors, and tourists from greater the Southern California area who understand the importance of “eating green.”
Our branded program will feature a “Greens Cook-off”, food demonstrations, live music/entertainment, and our Wellness Pavilion with guest speakers, health and fitness experts, and FREE medical screenings.

There are over 15 types of cooking greens, that include Kale, Chard, Mustard, Turnip, and Collards, greens are becoming increasingly popular for their pronounced health benefits. Collards, “the king of greens,” grown for their large, dark-colored, edible leaves and as a garden ornamental; contain phytonutrients that help to lower our cancer risk by supporting our detox and anti-inflammatory systems. In a recent study, steamed collard greens out shined steamed kale, mustard greens, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and cabbage in terms of its ability to bind bile acids in the digestive tract.
